How a single decision turned everything around
LJ didn’t come from a picture-perfect background.
In his early 20s, a bad decision led to a felony conviction and the threat of a long prison sentence. But instead of more years behind bars, he was offered an alternative: complete a military-style boot camp. It was brutal, disciplined, and life-altering. That experience cracked open something deeper—it planted a new sense of identity.
He wasn’t just someone who messed up. He was someone who could choose better.
When you’ve been given a second chance, you pass it on
That lesson stuck. What LJ saw as punishment at the time became his training ground for leadership. Where others saw inmates, he began to see untapped potential. If someone could see value in him back then—he could do the same for others.
Years later, he returned to the same correctional boot camp—not as an inmate, but as a guest speaker. Sharing his journey. Speaking directly to the pain, anger, and confusion he once knew firsthand.
That was the beginning of LJ’s purpose-driven life: helping others break cycles and build futures.
